Detenido por robo en joyería de la Ciudad de México


The SSC-CdMx arrested an alleged person responsible for the robbery at the Araj jewelry store in Plaza San Jerónimo, where watches, bracelets and gold chains were stolen.

Mexico City, November 12 (However).- The Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC-CdMx) reported on Tuesday at 8:16 p.m. about the robo of the Araj jewelry of San Jerónimo Squarelocated in the colony Pedregal Gardensin the mayor’s office Alvaro Obregon.

The capital department explained that the events occurred when several subjects wearing hoods entered the jewelry store and, according to the testimony of one of the employees of the place, broke the display cases and stole watches, BRACELET y gold chains.

The worker told the agents of the Secretariat of Citizen Security that, when she realized what happened, a custodian of a securities transfer company who was in the premises fired two shots at the ceiling, without any injuries being recorded.

The case was reported by operators of the Poniente Command and Control Center (C2), who reported the robbery in the establishment located in a plaza on Periférico Sur and San Jerónimo avenues, so field personnel came to verify the situation.

After what happened, the elements of the SSC-CdMx directed the store manager to file a formal complaint, and reported what happened to the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will carry out the investigations into the case. In this context, the video surveillance cameras in the area were also analyzed in order to identify the possible perpetrators.

Subsequently, around 10:00 p.m., the Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, Pablo Vázquez Camacho, reported that as a result of a virtual follow-up and the prompt attention to the report of theft of merchandise in the jewelry store, an alleged perpetrator was arrested.

The official explained that after the persecution against the subject, some of the stolen pieces were recovered from the Araj jewelry store in Plaza San Jerónimo, in addition to the fact that the detainee was linked to at least three similar events of theft from establishments.

Finally, Pablo Vázquez Camacho announced that the corresponding investigations in this case will continue in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City, with the objective of arresting all those involved in the robbery and ensuring that this and the other cases do not go unpunished.
