Mexico City. – The ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) Next Thursday they will resolve the last legal appeals filed by the businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego who challenged at least seven debts totaling 33.4 billion pesos, in addition the Supreme Court of the State of New York is also preparing to resolve the unpaid bonuses to investors of The Bank of New York Mellon.
Since last Friday the SCJN included in its list of pending issues to be resolved in this week’s sessions, the latest challenges from Salinas Pliego for seven tax debts amounting to 33,447 million pesos from his companies Elektra and Tv Azteca. The protections that the businessman filed were direct for the review of matters, claims to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) and impediments for some ministers to resolve their cases.
According to the draft sentences, the resolution does not favor the businessman because the SCJN does not study the underlying arguments of the owner of Salinas Groupbecause they are resources without novel questions or that address exceptions related to the payment of Income Tax (ISR) that require a ruling from the Court.
Since the debts of Salinas Pliego are also in the United States, the New York Court maintains an accusation against the businessman for not having paid a bond debt that he issued in 2017 with The Bank of New York Mellon.
Given this trial involving Tv Azteca and 39 subsidiaries of Salinas Group, The businessman must file a legal appeal to dismiss and suspend the accusation against him. The maximum date for Ricardo Salinas to defend his debts is next Wednesday, one day before the decision of the SCJN in Mexico.
