The Metro announced that service on Line 1 will be suspended this Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. to carry out final tests before its full reopening.
Mexico City, November 11 (However).- The Throw of Government of the Mexico City, Clara Brugadaconfirmed this Tuesday the reopening total of the Line 1 of the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro for the next Sunday, November 16 at 11:00 amafter more than two years of jobs of modernization.
During a press conference, the capital’s president reported that the reopening will include the section that goes from Pantitlán a Observatorywhich will allow service to be completely restored on the call “pink line”.
Likewise, he noted that the renovation guarantees the operation of the system for at least 50 more years, after a comprehensive rehabilitation that included trains, tracks, electrical and communication systems.
“It will be on Sunday, November 16, at 11:00 a.m., when Line 1 to Observatorio will be officially inaugurated. The population has been waiting for this opening and it represents one of the most important renovations carried out in the Metro,” he declared.
The Head of Government reported that she invited President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to participate in the reopening ceremony, which will conclude one of the most extensive infrastructure works in the capital in recent years.
In addition, Brugada announced that, once the renovation of Line 1 is completed, modernization work is expected to begin on Line 3, although the start date of said work has not yet been defined.
Work on Line 1 began on July 11, 2022, when the section from Pantitlán to Salto del Agua was closed for rehabilitation. Subsequently, on November 9, 2023, the service between Balderas and Observatory was suspended to continue with the work.
With these interventions, the capital government sought to replace obsolete equipment, improve operational safety and optimize travel times for the more than 500,000 daily users of this line.

Currently, the section that remained closed covers the Juanacatlán, Tacubaya and Observatorio stations, which will be open to the public next Sunday with the conclusion of the technical tests.
Line 1 will close earlier
The STC Metro reported that tomorrow, Wednesday, November 12, the Line 1 service will conclude at 10:00 p.m. to carry out comprehensive tests towards its reopening.
These exercises will be applied to the control and telecommunications systems with trains on the Pantitlán–Chapultepec section. With this, the STC asked users to take precautions, since the last run will leave at 9:30 p.m. and support will be offered with buses from the Passenger Transport Network (RTP) until midnight.
