The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) detailed that the MD-11 aircraft of the shipping and logistics company, which was destined for Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii, collapsed around 5:15 p.m. (local time).
The FAA is already investigating the accident in conjunction with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Elements of the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department went to the site, which asked the population to stay away and issued a shelter-in-place order in an eight-kilometer radius around the airport, due to the “fires and debris” caused by the incident.
In a brief statement, the company detailed that the crashed plane had “three crew members on board,” while the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department highlighted that there were injuries after the accident without offering more details about it.
